Today is the day we truly begin to prepare for the coming school year.  Among our list of things to do is getting the car inspected.  I like to do that 1st thing in the morning, but …it’s a little too late for that.  I hated to wake the kids this morning.  They’re days of summer freedom will end, soon enough.

I’ve got to head to the mall for a backpack for my 16yr.old.  I’m looking for a super stylish one for his 1st year of formal school!  I saw this home school mom’s video of her family’s 1st day of school and her son had this backpack that was so super cool!  I’d never seen one like that so …the fashion bug bit me and here I go:-).

Not sure what to d for dinner.  I’ll figure that out on the way home, I guess.  I started a load of clothes.  I’ll start one more before we leave.  I’ll finish ordering my son’s school clothes, buy my daughter’s ballet things, start packing for camp and the beach.

Oh! I’m starting a You Tube Channel.  Well, I’ve started it.  I just don’t have any videos, yet.  Another thing I wanted to do today was record a 1st day of school game to share with my home school friends & upload it to You Tube.  I probably won’t be able to do that until tomorrow.

I still have to go through all of my text books and see what I have and what I need to buy.  I’m almost certain that I won’t need to buy any textbooks until the middle of the year.

The children have been very helpful with the housework, so I’ve been able to get quite a bit done on the clothing line.  One of my dresses is in the hands of one of my new seamstresses who is fixing the mistakes made by seamstress #1.  Currently, I have 9 women’s and 1 junior dress.   I know…I know…that’s wrong.  You, either, have a women’s line or a junior line.  I didn’t plan it this way, but this is how it’s happening.  I’m just enjoying the ride.

In addition to ballet, my daughter wants to play basketball for the first time, ever.  That’s exciting.  I love going to games so…I guess we’ll be looking into that.  Not sure what sports Mr. 16 will do this year.  None, if he has his way.  We’ll see.  Anyway…

Have a GREAT DAY!  Thank you so very much for taking time out of your day to spend with me 🙂

  1. Sounds like you have a very busy year ahead of you. How do you decide on the curriculum that you’ll be using for the children? Do you use any additional teaching tools to supplement the curriculum? Thanks!

    1. Thank you for the question! We’ve been using A Abeka since 1998. Any teaching tools that I need either comes with the curriculum or I buy them, like a chalkboard, chalk, rulers, etc. And for games, sometimes we make our own game pieces.
